A BARNSLEY farming family is celebrating success after its first ever book has gone straight to the top of the charts – scooping a coveted Sunday Times Bestseller title.
Living Our Best Lives, by the Nicholson Family which run Cannon Hall Farm, launched on April 1 and in its first week has sold almost 6,000 copies, placing it fifth on the bestseller list and beating titles from UK wide favourites like instagram cleaning guru Mrs Hinch and NHS fundraising hero Captain Tom.
The book, published by Mirror, focuses on the family’s farming journey from tales of a prize-winning beer-drinking bull, to how Dad Roger had to take over the farm at just 16 years old and faced decades of struggle.
The farm – which has recently starred on Channel 5 TV show Springtime on the Farm – has just reopened to the public and Robert Nicholson, director, said the family have been overwhelmed by support.
“We are honestly so touched and humbled that people have supported us and shown such an interest in our farm. When we were first offered a publishing deal with Mirror we were shocked, but when we found out it had become a best seller we couldn’t believe it.
“We are truly so grateful to everyone and it is lovely to hear from all the farm fans who are enjoying reading it. It is a real celebration of what we’ve managed to do here and is just the perfect note to hopefully mark the end of a very challenging year.”
Signed copies are available to buy from the farm online and in the farm shop – but it is also available in all major book shops.
