Our reindeer look different!
You may notice something different about our reindeer at Cannon Hall Farm – their magnificent antlers have disappeared! Don’t worry, it’s completely natural. Reindeer shed their antlers once a year, and unlike most deer species, both males and females grow them. Males usually shed theirs in late autumn after the mating season, while females keep theirs longer, often through the winter to help them compete for food while pregnant. The antlers will regrow in spring, starting soft and velvety before hardening later in the year. Nature’s own recycling system!
